Issue:
What happened to xcalc on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?
Resolution:

Problem: Some of the X Athena Widget (xaw) tools, such as xcalc, are missing from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. These were present on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and earlier releases.

Explanation: When Red Hat moved away from the monolithic XFree86 and onto the more modular XOrg, many of the old xaw tools were omitted in RHEL5, due largely in part to general lack of use, and being poorly maintained upstream. Many of these tools were kept around in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 for compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.

Depending on the usage, the following alternatives can be used in place of xcalc on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5:

gcalctool
bc
dc
emacs M-x calc

Users that still wish to install xcalc can download the xcalc source code from:

xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/app/xcalc-1.0.2.tar.bz2
