Issue:
How do you create a new transaction group in Command Center?
Resolution:

To create a new transaction group, do the following:

1.  In the Monitoring tab of the Command Center page, open the URLs tab.

2.  Click on the Add New Transaction Group link.

3.  Fill in the transaction group information, including the authentication, cookie, and scout settings. These are the same as the fields described in Section 6.1.1 in the User Guide, “Creating a New URL”.

4.  Fill in the notification information. These are the same as the fields described in Section 6.1.1 in the User Guide, “Creating a New URL”.

5.  Click the add new step link.

6.  In the new step form, fill in the URL information.

  •  Set a name for the URL entry.
  •  Give the full URL. A valid URL must have the protocol (e.g., FTP, HTTP, HTTPS), the host name, and, optionally, the port number, path to the file, and query.

protocol://host[:port][path[?query][#fragment]]

  • Select the GET/POST method.

The method determines whether form element data, such as a username and password, are sent to the server appended to the ACTION attribute of the URL (GET) or as a transaction message body (POST).

7.  Fill in the content checking information.

8.  Save the new URL.

NOTE:

When storing the URL in the database, no implicit URL encoding is applied \to the entered string. If a space is used in a URL, it is assumed that a space is what was intended. It is possible to encode the URL for spaces or other characters manually. The World Wide Web Consortium provides a guide for this, which is available at http://www.w3.org/International/O-URL-code.html.

The transaction monitor compares the page source, not the rendered page, for matches, so include any markup that will appear with the content.
