Issue:
How does the Windows® auto update feature affect the operations of the Windows® host during an update?
Resolution:

The Command Center service for Windows® is an isolated service packaged with a set of utilities that leverage Windows API's to obtain performance data from the host.

Since it does not directly affect or update the SNMP provider on the system, SNMP does not need to be restarted.

A great deal of thought has been put into making the upgrade process as painless as possible and requiring as little interaction/interference with the normal operation of the host. The only service impacted by an update of the service itself is the Windows Management Intrumentation Service (also known as WMI or WinMgmt). An attempt is made to restart this service at installation/update time but should go unnoticed as the restart of WinMgmt fails if it is in use, and the service restarts itself automatically after a very short period of time.
