Issue:
What is the Network Map in Command Center?
Resolution:

The network map portion of the Command Center is the organizational center for the elements of Command Center. It is located on the left hand side of the browser window and provides a directory style presentation of the monitored infrastructure.

The Network Map is divided into two sections:

  • Monitoring - where the hosts, assets and URLs are configured
  • Notifications - where the people, contact methods, and contact groups are configured

Each level of the map represents a layer of monitored service. To expand or collapse the network map, click on the plus or minus symbols next to the heading for each layer. To expand or collapse the entire tree, click on Open All or Close All. Clicking any of the links displays a list of hosts or services associated with that Local Scout, host, or host group. A host is identified by an icon representing its operating system or device type.

  1. Host Management - Clicking a link displays current state for a host or service. Each host is represented by an icon for device type (router, switch) or operating system (Linux, Windows, Solaris).
  2. Asset Management - A simple method for keeping track of the assets in the infrastructure. This information is also used when configuring hosts for monitoring.
  3. URL Management - Monitoring of the Web sites from remotevlocations. Add, modify, and clone URLs by clicking on the pencil icon next to the name of a URL.
  4. People Management - Add, modify, or delete people definitions.
  5. Contact Group Management - Configure contact groups for notification type such as Broadcast or Escalate. The acknowledgment requirements to consider any alert complete are configured here.
