Issue:
LILO comes up too fast and I do not have enough time to make a selection, what can I do to slow it down?
Resolution:
You may need to modify your /etc/lilo.conf file and increase the timeout. Increase it by a factor that sounds reasonable to you based on your needs. The timeout setting is measured in seconds.

prompt
timeout=10
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
message=/boot/message
linear

  1. Run lilo -t to test that the file is valid.
  2. Assuming it succeeds, run lilo -v to complete the installation of the modified boot loader.
  3. Reboot and see if the delay is more to your liking.
  4. Repeat until you've tuned the delay to your liking.
