Issue:
When installing the tomcat5 package or when starting the tomcat5 service, why do I see error messages '/usr/bin/rebuild-jar-repository: error: JVM_LIBDIR' or '/usr/lib/jvm-exports/java does not exist or is not a directory' or '/usr/bin/dtomcat5: line 272: /usr/lib/jvm/java/bin/java: No such file or directory' on the screen or in the log file /var/log/tomcat5/catalina.out?
Resolution:
Release Found: Red Hat Application Server, Tomcat 5 package
Symptom:
When installing the package
tomcat5 or when starting the
tomcat5 service, you see one or both of the following error messages on the screen or in the log file
/var/log/tomcat5/catalina.out:
/usr/bin/rebuild-jar-repository: error: JVM_LIBDIR
/usr/lib/jvm-exports/java does not exist or is not a directory
/usr/bin/dtomcat5: line 272: /usr/lib/jvm/java/bin/java:
No such file or directory
|
Solution:
This is because the Tomcat from the
tomcat5 package can not find a compatible version of a Java SDK installed on the system. Several Java SDKs that are compatible with the tomcat5 package are provided in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extras channel.
Before installing one of these Java SDK packages from the Extras channel,
you will need to uninstall the tomcat5 package. Use
rpm -e tomcat5 to
uninstall this package.
Once you have uninstalled the tomcat5 package, you can install one of
the Java SDK packages provided in the Extras channel and then
reinstall the
tomcat5 package.
