How do I kickstart with custom packages from my Red Hat Network Satellite?
Resolution:

Prerequisites

  • Red Hat Network Satellite
  • A custom channel with custom packages set up like Article 12575

Create an Activation Key

  1. Goto the system tab.
  2. Click "Activation Keys".
  3. Create a new key with provisioning selected.
  4. After creation, select the key and select the Child Channel subtab
  5. Select the custom child channel and hit "Update Key" (Note: If multiple channels are required press ctrl and hilight multiple channels)
  6. Click packages and type the package name into the box and hit "Update Key"

Import the GPG Key into the Satellite

  1. Goto the system tab
  2. Click "Kickstart"
  3. Click "GPG and SSL keys"
  4. Create new stored key/cert
  5. Upload the CUSTOM-GPG-KEY created previously

Create the Kickstart

  1. Goto the system tab
  2. Click "Kickstart"
  3. Create a new kickstart profile
  4. After creating the kickstart, select the activation key subtab and check the newly created key, and hit "Update profile"
  5. Select system details, then GPG and SSL
  6. Check the CUSTOM-GPG-KEY that was imported and hit "Update profile"

Kickstart

Boot the machine off of the cd, and at the prompt enter:

linux ks=http://satellite.example.com/kickstart/ks/view_label/kickstart_label
