Issue:
When I run rhn_register and I get an error when it tries to send my system profile stating 'problem registering username.' I told it to use my existing account, which is active. How can I correctly register my system with Red Hat Network (RHN)?
Resolution:
This error is commonly found on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 2.1 and Red Hat Linux 9 systems and is due to an expired SSL certificate.

Also, many user's have found the following procedure resolve the problem. You can run the following command from the system you are trying to register at a terminal window command prompt:
wget -q -O - https://rhn.redhat.com/help/new-cert.sh | /bin/bash
After executing that command, you should be able to successfully run rhn_register and register your system with RHN.
