Issue:
My Apache error log file shows it is generating segmentation faults. What should I do?
Resolution:
There are various causes for Apache to perform a segmentation fault If this occurs, you will see errors similar to the following within your Apache error log file, /var/log/httpd/error_log:

[Mon Aug 16 08:51:28 2004] [notice] child pid 899 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Mon Aug 16 08:51:57 2004] [notice] child pid 898 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

Since there is no quick fix, the only way to determine the cause is to reconfigure Apache to dump core files into a directory.

Please review the Knowledgebase article on how to reconfigure the system to capture the core files.
