Issue:
Why does the installer not recognize all of the video RAM on my NVIDIA Quadro FX3000?
Resolution:
Release Found: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3

Hardware: NVIDIA Quadro FX3000 video adapter with 256MB of video RAM

Symptom: During the video configuration portion of the installation, 256MB may not be included in the list of possible video RAM sizes. 128MB seems to be the highest available value.

Solution / Workaround: Go ahead and complete the installation using 128MB for the RAM size. Once the installation completes, download the latest driver for the Quadro FX3000 from NVIDIA. Follow the installation instructions contained in the README for the driver. This driver should allow the user to take full advantage of all the memory on the video adapter.

Details: The drop down menu in the installer writes the memory value to the /etc/X11/XF86Config file, so even after applying the NVIDIA driver you still may not be able to see 256MB as an available option if you were to run redhat-config-xfree86. The NVIDIA driver, however, does not use this value. It instead uses the video RAM probed by the kernel driver.
