Issue:
What RPMs are required for GFS?
Resolution:

The required RPMS are GFS, GFS-modules, and perl-Net-Telnet which are discussed in the Red Hat GFS administration guide. Look at the following documentation for detailed information about the GFS installation process: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/csgfs/admin-guide/s1-install-tasks.html#S2-INSTALL-GFS-RPM

Required RPMs

  • GFS-<version>[.i686][ia64][.ia32e][.x86_64] - The GFS cluster file system
  • GFS-modules[-smp][-hugemem]-<version>[.i686][ia64][.ia32e][.x86_64] - Kernel components for GFS cluster file system
  • perl-Net-Telnet-<version>.noarch - Net-Telnet Perl module

Optional RPMs

  • GFS-devel-<version>[.i686][ia64][.ia32e][.x86_64] - GFS Libraries and header files
  • rh-gfs-en-<version>.noarch - Red Hat GFS Documentation

Note: Be sure to have the correct architecture installed. For example, GFS-modules.ia32e for EM64T and GFS-modules.x86_64 for AMD64. Also, make sure that you have the appropriate GFS kernel-modules RPM for each kernel. For example, if you have an SMP or hugemem kernel installed (kernel-smp-<version>.EL.rpm, kernel-hugemem-<version>.EL.rpm), you need this GFS kernel-modules RPM:, GFS-modules-smp-<version>.<architecture>.rpm, GFS-modules-hugemem-<version>.<architecture>.rpm (respectively).
