Red Hat GFS 6.0 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, which uses the 2.4 kernel. Since the 2.4 kernel does not support devices larger than 2TB, the maximum amount of storage available to GFS is 2TB.
The 2TB limit has been lifted in Red Hat GFS 6.1. This version of GFS runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 which is running on the 2.6 kernel and has larger filesystem support -- a total of 16 TB for 32-bit systems and 8 exabytes for 64-bit systems.
Further details can be found in Chapter 2 of the Red Hat GFS Administrator's Guide at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/csgfs.
