Issue:
Is online resizing of ext2 filesystems supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3?
Resolution:
Online resizing of ext2 filesystems using tools such as parted or resize2fs are not supported. It is possible to resize a partition with the use of Logical Volume Manager (LVM), but the filesystem must be unmounted before any modifications can be made. Once the logical volume is expanded or reduced, the filesystem can be remounted.
