Issue:
What could be causing SCSI errors on my Dell PowerEdge Server?
Resolution:

Release Found: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3

Symptom:

While running the Dell system diagnostic utility, OpenManage Server Assistant (OMSA), kernel messages similar to below would have been generated in /var/log/messages:
kernel: scsi singledevice 0 0 0 0
kernel: scsi singledevice 0 0 1 0
kernel: blk: queue ef0d6c18, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)

Solution:

These messages are caused by the OMSA software.

The blk: queue messages are harmless informational messages put into the block layer for the benefit of kernel developers.

The SCSI messages intended to assist with kernel debugging of the SCSI mid layer caused by the OMSA On-line diagnostics service. They are normal and expected even if annoying.
