Issue:
How do I install the Cluster Suite packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 using Red Hat Network (RHN)?
Resolution:

Use the following steps to install the failover cluster or load balancing Cluster Suite packages:

  1. Register your cluster nodes with the Red Hat Network (RHN) and add the Cluster Suite child channel to all cluster nodes. See additional Knowledgebase articles on how to add child channels in RHN.
  2. Apply all available errata for your system (update your system using up2date).
  3. For a failover cluster (using shared storage) in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, use up2date to install the redhat-config-cluster package. This will pull in the clumanager package as a dependency.
    up2date redhat-config-cluster
  4. For a load balancing (LVS) cluster, use up2date to install the piranha-gui package. This will pull in several other packages as dependencies necessary to complete the install.
