Currently, Red Hat does not ship any tools with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution that can perform a DoD disk wipe.
There are, however, some third-party packages available that can accomplish this. One of which is called "scrub". scrub is a utility developed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, which iteratively writes patterns on files or disk devices to make retrieving the data more difficult.
Scrub implements user-selectable pattern algorithms that are compliant with DoD 5520.22-M or NNSA NAP-14.x.
The latest scrub software can be downloaded here, and it is also available in Fedora and Fedora Extras.
NOTE: Since scrub is not currently shipping with any Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases it is **NOT** supported by Red Hat. Any problems or questions should be directed to the scrub mailing list.
