Issue:
How can I test the integrity of my Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation CDs?
Resolution:
You can verify your discs at the boot: prompt after booting off the first install CD. This can be done either before or after installation, as you don't have to reinstall your system to use this method. Here's how it's done:
  1. Place the first first install CD in your CD-ROM drive and reboot.
  2. When the boot: prompt appears, type linux mediacheck and press enter.
  3. When prompted, choose the option to test your media and test all the install discs in your set.
  4. When you've finished checking discs you can reboot the machine or choose "Continue" to exit the mediacheck and continue with installation.
If one of your Red Hat provided discs is bad, please see additional knowledgebase articles on obtaining a replacement media kit.

If a disc that you burned is defective, please see additional knowledgebase articles on verifying the integrity of ISOs before you reburn the disc. It could be a bad ISO instead or a incorrectly burned CD.
