Issue:
How do I install RPM packages with up2date?
Resolution:

Any of the Red Hat shipped packages can be installed with the up2date command.

As long as the machine is registered on Red Hat Network (RHN), any package shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux can be installed with the following up2date command:

# up2date

For example:

# up2date squid
Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: rhel-i386-as-4...

Fetching rpm headers...
########################################

Name Version Rel
----------------------------------------------------------
squid 2.5.STABLE6 3.4E.11
i386

Testing package set / solving RPM inter-dependencies...
########################################
squid-2.5.STABLE6-3.4E.11.i ########################## Done.
Preparing ###########################################
[100%]

Installing...
1:squid ###########################################
[100%]

The up2date command will automatically resolve, fetch and install any package dependencies for the package to be installed.

Using up2date post installation allows systems to have the latest available version of the package.
