Issue:
Are there big differences in functionality between the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Resolution:

There are very few differences between the 32 bit x86 and 64 bit AMD64/EM64T versions of the operating system. Both versions of the operating system are created from the same source code and share the same features.

The 64 bit version contains more packages; next to the 64 bit packages it also contains a set of 32 bit packages to enable compatibility with existing 32 bit applications.
