Issue:
Why isn't my display resolution set correctly on my NEC ServerEngines server?
Resolution:

Release Found:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 8
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4

Symptom:
The VRAM size of Matrox MGA G200e included in ServerEngines Server Management Controller chip isn't identified correctly on installation. As a result, the resolution of X-Window may not be set correctly. This issue occurs since kudzu on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 cannot get the VRAM information via DDC bus.

Solution:
Re-configure the resolution manually after installation.

  1. Run system-config-display command (on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4), or redhat-config-display (on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3).
  2. Set the preferred resolution in the Settings tab, and click " OK".
NOTE. If you want to use the resolution 800*600 or higher, you need to choose 'Thousands of colors' or lesser instead of 'Millons of colors'.
