In the calendar year 2006 and 2007, a number of countries have altered the dates on which they observe Daylight Savings Time (DST). The earliest of these changes will occur on March 26, 2006 for those observing Australian DST and in certain parts of the state of Indiana (USA). Resolution
Red Hat Directory Server requires installing a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) before installing Red Hat Directory Server. From the link http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_80_7909 check the steps required to apply the DST changes, which are applicable to the version of java installed on the system. Also, Red Hat Directory Server has it's own local installation of JRE located in /opt/redhat-ds/bin/base/jre . Please update that JRE, located in this path, using the IBM updater. This is necessary for the correct DST functions of the Console.
Red Hat Directory Server uses JVM for the admin console only, so there is no risk of failure of the core Directory Server functions. Directory Server uses UTC for its operations, so failure to apply the DST patches may cause only non critical problems such as incorrect system time in the log files.
