What is the command rhn_register used for in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Issue

You do not know what the command rhn_register is used for.

 

Solution

This command is used to establish an association between your machine and a support entitlement you have on Red Hat Network (RHN). Your RHN account will allow to view the entitlements you have, or are using, in addition to many other features .

 

You can run the rhn_register command to register your system with RHN, re-register it, or any number of additional advanced features. You can also get following details on it by using the command rhn_register --help

 

# rhn_register --help
usage: rhn_register [options]

options:
  -v, --verbose         Show additional output
  --proxy=PROXY         Specify an http proxy to use
  --proxyUser=PROXYUSER
                        Specify a username to use with an authenticated http
                        proxy
  --proxyPassword=PROXYPASSWORD
                        Specify a password to use with an authenticated http
                        proxy
  --version             show program's version number and exit
  -h, --help            show this help message and exit
  --nox                 Do not attempt to use X
